JLL announced that Kelley Sigl has joined the firm, where she'll be a senior VP with a focus on tenant representation. She makes the move from Kinzer Partners. JLL's Chris Hughes said in a statement, “We're excited to have Kelley join our team here in Bellevue. We're confident that her deep understanding of tenant representation and customer relationship management will be beneficial for all of the exciting current and future projects we have in store for the Eastside.” Said Sigl, “I'm committed to identifying unique, outside-the-box solutions to help companies align their space needs with their organization's goals, and effectively bring their vision to life.”

BoA provided $100M for CPA

Climate Pledge Arena, with its landmarked Paul Thiry roof, recently topped out; and the new green signage has been installed via helicopter on the iconic roof. Separate from those announcements by contractor Mortenson and owner/developer Oak View Group, Bank of America recently disclosed its nearly $100 million contribution to the privately funded, roughly $1 billion project. That came via BoA's Community Development Banking arm and Federal Historic Tax Credits. The bank said that, on a national level, its CDB arm last year provided nearly $5.9 billion in loans, tax credit equity investments and other real estate development solutions. That compares to about $4.9 billion in 2019. Notably, as part of 2020's total, BoA says that it provided over $359 million to help fund more than 640 units of affordable housing in Seattle. (Individual projects weren't named.) Meanwhile, the over 17,000-seat, carbon-neutral CPA is expected to open late this year.

CBRE says we're No. 5!

In an inaugural report, CBRE issued what it calls the U.S. Development Opportunity Index. That national analysis ranks cities in categories including multifamily, offices, retail and industrial. Seattle scored in the top ten for all those. Then, in the blended Opportunity index, CBRE placed Seattle at the No. 5 position. The top four were, in descending order, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix and Orlando. (Portland was No. 26, so there.) CBRE's John R. Miller said in a statement, “Seattle's desirable lifestyle, highly educated workforce and continued job growth, particularly in the technology, e-commerce and life sciences sectors, are driving employers to need more capacity for their product and employees. Even in the most recent downturn, developers continue to bet on these strong fundamentals and are finding above-average returns in our market as a result.”

Providence fundraiser

Ahmad and Stephanie Daher

Ahmad Daher, chief executive and founder of Envijo, and his wife Stephanie Daher, have been named co-chairs of the 37th annual 2021 Providence O'Christmas Trees, an event that raises money for Providence Home and Community Care's health care, housing and hospice programs. This year's event will take place in early December, virtually and possibly in person at The Westin Seattle, depending on the COVID-19 situation. Providence O'Christmas Trees is Providence Health & Services' Home and Community Care's largest annual fundraiser, benefiting the following programs: Providence PACE — ElderPlace, Heritage House at the Market, Providence Hospice of Seattle, Providence Home Services King County, Providence Marianwood, Providence Infusion and Pharmacy Services, Providence Supportive Housing and Providence Mount St. Vincent.

ABC Legal

OnCon, a gathering of legal professionals, has awarded its first ever Legal Vendor of the Year Award to ABC Legal Services. The award recognizes exceptional products and services, strides in innovation, and strong contributions to the legal community. OnCon's award was determined by legal professionals and distributed virtually at the OnCon2021 Icon Awards ceremony. The award finalists were voted on by their peers and include leading legal technology vendors such as Bloomberg Law, LexisNexis, DocuSign, CaseText, OneTrust, Epiq, and Jackson Lewis. ABC Legal is a service of process and court filing provider, as well as the official process server to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Moz

Seattle-based Moz, a provider of search engine optimization technology, announced Tom Capper has joined the company to lead the Search Science team. Based in the UK, Capper comes to Moz after leading the SEO practice at Distilled, now Brainlabs. Capper will design new research to help Moz solve issues for SEO professionals at every stage in their career. In addition, Moz recently announced the addition of Asia Orangio and Tara Reed to its board of directors.

Brian Stanford has been named president of PBS Engineering and Environmental, a Northwest consulting firm with more than 250 staff. Mark Leece was named chief operating officer and Jennifer Porter chief financial officer. Stanford joined PBS as an industrial hygiene technician in 1992 and played a key role in growing its Puget Sound operations. He became a board member in 2011. As president, he remains committed to PBS' “people-first” culture and continued investment in its local communities. Leece started with the firm as a principal environmental engineer in 2013, bringing with him a history in management of large-scale environmental work. He has been a leader in the significant growth of PBS' engineering department and was elected to the board in 2016. Porter began with the firm as an accounting intern 30 years ago, and has used her financial acumen to navigate complex positions as a senior contract administrator, controller, treasurer and member of the PBS board. She is the first woman within the firm's C-suite. PBS' core service areas include civil, geotechnical, structural, transportation and traffic engineering; and environmental, industrial hygiene, planning, surveying and natural resource consulting.

In Seattle, Parametrix hired Scott Haskins as a senior consultant, supporting its water market growth. He has over 40 years of experience in the utility industry in North America and internationally. Haskins provides consulting in strategic planning, utility financial management, alternative contracting, social equity, environmental management and sustainability, organizational and leadership development, asset management, capacity building and workforce related initiatives. He has held executive leadership positions in international consulting and at Seattle Public Utilities where he oversaw wastewater, drinking water, surface water and solid waste functions. Parametrix provides engineering, planning and environmental sciences.

Seattle-based Clark|Barnes promoted Suzanne Salandi to senior associate. Salandi was hired in 2015, and has developed and led the interior design studio, which works with the architecture studio on new construction and renovations. She has 13 years of experience as an interior designer and has worked on commercial, retail, hospitality and multifamily projects. Her projects have included new construction, prototype development and renovation/remodels. She is working on Heartwood Apartments in Issaquah, Tapestry Apartments in Seattle and the King County Civic Master Plan.

Bellevue Chamber

The Bellevue Chamber has launched the New Executives program aimed at young professionals in the two through six year mark in their career. The program builds business skills, connects participants with senior executives and entrepreneurs, and creates long-term relationships with a core group of peers across several industries. Trina Gwerder has been named Mason Transit Authority's Employee of the Year. Gwerder has worked at Mason Transit Authority for 14 years, starting out as a shelter monitor. As one of three operations supervisors, she plans, supervises and coordinates transit schedules and services. In addition, she supervises about 34 drivers. Staff nominate fellow employees for Employee of the Year every February. Mason Transit leadership and the Employee Engagement Committee team select the recipient based on employee nominations.

PEMCO

PEMCO Mutual Insurance announced that Denice Town has joined its executive team in the newly created position of corporate governance officer, following her more than 40 years of service at the Seattle-based insurer. Town joined PEMCO in 1978 and has held several positions over her tenure, most recently serving as the company's corporate secretary, where she worked with senior managers, the executive team and PEMCO's board of directors. Town currently serves on the board of directors for the Providence Hospice of Seattle Foundation, and oversees a charitable foundation she founded with her husband, Patrick.

People's Bank

The shareholders of People's Bank of Commerce and Willamette Community Bank approved their proposed merger. Subject to the terms of the Merger Agreement, Willamette Community Bank will merge with and into People's Bank of Commerce, with People's Bank of Commerce surviving the merger. The consummation of the proposed merger remains subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. Founded in 1998, People's Bank of Commerce is headquartered in Medford. Willamette Community Bank is headquartered in Albany and was founded in 2003.

Commercial interior construction company Vantis opened an office in Seattle to serve the Pacific Northwest, with a primary focus on the greater Puget Sound and Spokane markets. Longtime Seattle construction industry executive Mark Conway is heading up the office as vice president of the Pacific Northwest. Conway comes from Vantis sister company OpenSquare, where he was senior vice president. Vantis specializes in corporate, technology, health care and education facility interiors using custom prefabricated components that are adaptable as user needs change. It also works with modular construction fabricators. Its California headquarters are based in Santa Clara and its Seattle operations include OpenSquare, Porter and Splice.

Emile le Roux returned to Rider Levett Bucknall's Seattle office as associate principal after spending time on a big project in Las Vegas. Le Roux has an educational background in quantity surveying, and over 29 years of national and international construction cost estimating experience, including nearly 20 years with RLB. With offices across the globe, RLB provides construction cost and project management services.

General contractor Hensel Phelps promoted Jared Cummins to project superintendent within its Pacific Northwest region office. Over the course of his 11-year career with the company, Cummins has worked on civic, health care and aviation projects in Washington, Northern California and Hawaii. He is currently working on Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's North Satellite modernization project. He holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University.
