Shipley

Shiftboard, a provider of workforce scheduling software, appointed Travis Shipley as chief revenue officer. As Shiftboard's CRO, Shipley is responsible for driving worldwide revenues for both new and current customers. He joins the company's executive leadership team, reporting to Shiftboard's president and CEO, Sterling Wilson. Before joining Shiftboard, Shipley was vice president of sales at Wrike, a SaaS collaborative work management solution provider recently acquired by Citrix. Prior to Wrike, Shipley was vice president of sales at IT solutions provider Zones. Before that, he served as vice president of sales at CompuCom and was the founder of the international business consultancy, Portelo. Shipley also spent nearly a decade in various sales leadership roles at Microsoft.

D.A. Davidson

D.A. Davidson announced that the firm has hired Christopher Brendler as managing director, senior research analyst. Brendler will be responsible for covering payments, balance sheet oriented fintech and crypto. Brendler has decades of experience in equity research with the bulk of his time spent at Stifel Nicolaus and most recently with Seaport Global. D.A. Davidson Companies is an employee-owned financial services firm offering a range of financial services and advice to individuals, corporations, institutions and municipalities nationwide. Founded in 1935 and headquartered in Montana, with corporate offices in Denver, Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle, the company has approximately 1,400 employees and offices in 28 states.

Downtown Issaquah Association

The Downtown Issaquah Association (DIA) has been designated as an affiliate Main Street program. Each year, Main Street America and its partners announce the list of nationally recognized affiliate programs in recognition of their commitment to creating meaningful improvements in their downtowns and commercial districts using the Main Street Approach, a framework for preservation-based economic development and community revitalization. The Downtown Issaquah Association's performance is annually evaluated by Washington State's Main Street Program, which works in partnership with Main Street America to identify the local programs that are committed to comprehensive revitalization and achieving meaningful community outcomes. DIA is known for events and activities such as the ArtWalk and Music Stroll, Gas Station Blues, Artisan Market, Fenders on Front, and last year's Streatery. This summer DIA will reprise the outdoor dining concept as Al Fresco on Front, featuring distinctive shopping and diverse restaurant offerings.

Symetra Life Insurance has been named a 2021 Corporate Champion by the Puget Sound Business Journal as part of the publication's annual Corporate Citizenship Awards recognizing nine companies that “give back to their communities and inspire real change.” Symetra was honored as the Economic Opportunity award recipient for its support of two programs: United Way of King County's “Bridge to Finish” initiative, which helps low-income students get the assistance they need to stay in school and complete their education; and “Care & Feeding,” a Symetra initiative which supported struggling small restaurants during the pandemic by funding meal preparation and delivery to healthcare facilities and homeless shelters. Stephen Nuss joined Stantec as a principal and practice leader in its water group. Nuss will work with the Washington water team to win, manage and deliver projects in the Northwest. He has over two decades of experience directing and leading civil and environmental engineering projects. His experience includes municipal projects, small-diameter water and sewer pipe rehabilitation, new water transmission main, sewage lift station, water booster station, and rehabilitation of water and sewer treatment plant projects. Nuss spent 15 years with the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility. He has worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He is based in the Bellevue office of Stantec, a global engineering, architecture and consulting firm.

Issaquah-based Farallon Consulting appointed Martin Hamann, Chris Poulsen and Heidi Yantz to California, Oregon and Washington regional operations managers respectively. They will manage day-to-day operations in each state, building on Farallon's infrastructure to support growth. Hamann is a principal geologist with over 30 years of experience, particularly in large-scale projects in the United States and abroad. Poulsen, a principal engineer, brings over 27 years of project, program and business management experience to his role, including client, employee and operational leadership responsibilities. Yantz is a senior hydrogeologist, health and safety manager with over 20 years of experience in site assessment and cleanup activities. Yantz spearheaded Farallon's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, providing staff, subcontractors and clients with timely information to remain healthy and safe. Farallon is an environmental consulting firm that provides engineering services, due diligence, permits and regulatory compliance, contaminated site investigation and cleanup, insurance claim evaluation and mediation and litigation support.

Bellingham-based RMC Architects hired David Judge as a project architect and Nathan Leigh as a design professional. Judge will use his knowledge of Cross Laminated Timber design and construction while working on the Bellingham Public Schools District Office Building. He holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Michigan and a master's in architecture from the University of Washington. Leigh will work on an addition to the Whatcom County Courthouse and Phase Two of Cordata Park, both in Bellingham. He holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Oregon. RMC offers planning and design services.

The Riley Group promoted Megan E. Poysnick to senior environmental manager and hired Cole Nelson as a staff geologist. Poysnick is a geologist with over 14 years of experience, specializing in environmental consulting services, risk management services and regulatory expertise in cleanup projects in the Northwest. She has managed a range of projects, including property due diligence assessments, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, cleanup action plans and redevelopment permitting associated with cleanup services for contaminated properties. Nelson is on the environmental services team. He is assisting with environmental site assessments and subsurface investigations. He holds a bachelor's in geology from the University of Washington. The Riley Group is an environmental consulting and geotechnical firm headquartered in Bothell.

Aegis Living announced the appointment of Constance Schein as senior vice president of clinical and health services. Schein will oversee all nursing and care, and will be responsible for managing and developing existing and new healthcare partnerships, enlisting new technology to improve resident care, and supporting Aegis Living general managers in hiring, developing, and retaining employees across Aegis Living's nursing and care teams. Schein will also play an role in the development of wellness programming. Prior to joining Aegis Living, Schein served as vice president of clinical and ancillary services at Westminster Communities, a non-profit, senior-focused healthcare organization. Schein earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and received a master's in nursing from McGill University. Aegis Living is headquartered in Bellevue, and operates 33 communities in Washington, California and Nevada, with 8 additional communities in development.

Nerdy, the parent company of Varsity Tutors and a direct-to-consumer platform for live online learning, announced that Seattle-based Karthik Anbalagan and Craig Pape have joined the company as chief audience officer and chief marketplace operations officer, respectively. As chief audience officer, Anbalagan will capitalize on Nerdy's data to drive the algorithms powering personalized learning experiences and help to define and develop new pathways that meet the needs of online learners. He joins Nerdy from Amazon, where he spent over a decade in various management and leadership roles, most recently as director, new innovation programs for Amazon Fashion. His prior roles included building and launching the Amazon Treasure Truck and leading the Kindle Book Store globally. Prior to Amazon, Karthik spent seven years at Microsoft helping to lead feature development in Windows and Windows Live. Pape will lead sourcing and engagement of Nerdy's online network of Experts. He also joins Nerdy from Amazon, where he spent more than 21 years in a range of general management positions. Most recently, Pape served as director of executive recruiting.

ZoomInfo

ZoomInfo's chief financial officer Cameron Hyzer has been named a winner of the Portland Business Journal's 2021 CFO of the Year Award in the Enterprise category. The award honors 18 CFOs in Oregon and Southwest Washington with a strong record of innovation in their fields, outstanding performance in their businesses, and a clear track record of meaningful community involvement. This year's winners, who participated in a series of roundtable discussions earlier this month, will be recognized in a virtual ceremony later this year. Hyzer was recognized for his work in leading the integration processes for a number of ZoomInfo mergers and acquisitions, as well as for helping lead ZoomInfo's successful initial public offering. Hyzer has more than 20 years of SaaS, software, and strategic acquisition experience. He was previously the CFO and executive managing director of Eze Software Group, a global provider of order management and investment technology to hedge funds and asset managers. He has also served in executive and financial roles with ConvergEx Group, Eze Castle Software, Thomson Financial, and Cramer Systems.

Chris Root, Michele Klika, Andrew Baker and Jason Riley are the newest shareholders of Redmond-based contractor Sequoyah Electric and Network Services. Root leads the Technologies department of Network Services, where he oversees the team's efforts in design, production and ongoing support of audio-visual, CCTV, security, telecommunication systems and custom integrations. Klika is the company's human resource director. Baker is director of information technology, responsible for IT infrastructure strategy. Riley is manager of the Special Projects/Tenant Improvements division.

Tacoma-based Colvos Construction promoted Gabrielle Schwartz, Tanya Russell and Casey Angeline to the newly formed role of senior project engineer, allowing them to participate in project management functions and gain further experience for future career advancement. All were project engineers. Colvos says senior project engineers must have at least five years of commercial construction experience, a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in construction management, and demonstrated dedication to the company and their project teams.

Rock Project Management Services

Renton-based Rock Project Management Services hired Jason Suzaka as project manager. Suzaka, DBIA Associate, was previously project manager at Puget Sound Energy with a focus on electrical infrastructure projects. RPM provides owner's representative services to public and private clients throughout Washington that have K-12, transportation, health care, energy and technology, and tribal projects.

Granite Construction

Granite Construction became a title sponsor of Evergreen Speedway's Super Sprint Car Series. Mark Ottele, senior project manager for Granite's Pacific Northwest Region, spearheaded the deal. Ottele is a regular at the Monroe track and noticed a few years ago that many race fans were construction workers. A family connection to driver Cameron Neisinger led to sponsoring his car, which led to sponsoring the Sprint Car Series as a whole. After interning with Granite, Neisinger now works full-time as an engineer at the company. Granite is a heavy-civil construction company based in Watsonville, California, with multiple offices and plants in Washington.
