New tenant at Tommer Building

To make way for the planned conversion of Pioneer Square's Westland Building from offices to a hotel (that's part of RailSpur), the co-work enterprise The Pioneer Collective recently took space in Belltown. That follows a recent expansion to Tacoma. Now it's announced a third location: the Tommer Building in Ballard. The Collective's Audrey Hoyt said in a statement, “We were sad to say goodbye to Pioneer Square. It was our home for seven years, and was our most financially successful space, but the sting of that loss was dulled by this exciting opportunity.” She and Christopher Hoyt founded their company in the Westland Building in 2014. Their 14,000 square feet in the Tommer Building, developed by Kamin Properties, appears to have filled the building; the other tenants are Nikwax and Great Notion Brewing. JLL had been brokering the space. TPC Ballard should open this summer, after Mallet Construction finishes the space per Audrey Hoyt's design.

C&W secures JV partner for Bel-Red apartments

As the DJC reported earlier this month, Legacy Partners recently purchased the Bel-Red site for a 288-unit apartment project with the provisional name of Bellevue Station. For that over $18 million land buy at Bel-Red/130th Station, which opens next year, Cushman & Wakefield announced last week that it had secured joint venture partner New York Life Real Estate Investors to finance the project, in lieu of a construction loan. That had also been previously reported. C&W's Dave Karson and Chris Moyer led the effort. Said Karson, “Bellevue Station is positioned in the center of an astounding amount of office development and job growth. The Eastside has become a focus for the region's largest tech tenants. Legacy hopes to begin the project, designed by Encore Architects, this summer. Compass is the general contractor. Completion is expected in 2025.

NAIOP keeps current

The subject of NAIOP's breakfast meeting next month, on April 20, couldn't be more charged. A panel discussion will address “The Future of Our Energy Grid,” with emphasis on renewables, infrastructure, capacity and management of sources including hydro, solar and wind. The experts will include Matt Elley of AMLI Development, Glenn Blackmon of the state Department of Commerce, Clarence Clipper of CenTrio Energy, Matt Miller of Puget Sound Energy and Uzma Siddiqi of Seattle City Light. iGrafx, a leader in digital business transformation and process management, announced the appointment of John Barone as executive vice president of global sales. Barone brings over 30 years of experience in revenue acceleration, building scalable sales processes, and fostering high-level strategic alliances. Barone was vice president and general manager of corporate markets at intelligent automation and real-time AI specialist Pega. Over the past year, iGrafx has announced the acquisition of process mining solution provider Logpickr. The iGrafx platform captures and connects critical business operations for detailed analysis, modeling, and optimization. iGrafx is headquartered in Tualatin, Oregon.

DCG ONE

Seattle-based DCG One has acquired brand and digital agency The Garrigan Lyman Group (GLG), with offices in Seattle and New York. The acquisition of GLG comes as DCG ONE's agency division continues to grow at a rapid pace while providing a variety of digital and traditional agency services for several leading brands such as Amazon, L'Oreal, and the Seattle Kraken. The combined companies will continue to have offices in Seattle and New York City. As part of the transaction, Rebecca Lyman, principal and co- founder of GLG, will join the executive team of DCG ONE as chief marketing officer.

ZoomInfo

ZoomInfo founder and CEO Henry Schuck has been selected by Technology Association of Oregon as the 2022 Sam Blackman Award winner. Schuck will be recognized as part of the 38th annual Oregon Technology Awards ceremony, celebrating excellence and achievement in the region's technology industry. Schuck has served as chief executive officer and chairman of ZoomInfo (formerly DiscoverOrg) since founding it in 2007. He led ZoomInfo as it became the first U.S. technology company to go public during the COVID-19 pandemic. Including the company's acquisition of Zoom Information in 2019, Schuck has overseen 11 acquisitions in total, and has grown the company to more than 2,700 employees globally. Prior to founding ZoomInfo, Schuck was vice president of research and marketing at iProfile, a sales intelligence firm focused on the information technology market. The Sam Blackman Award recognizes executives of Oregon and Southwest Washington-based technology companies for excellence in industry leadership. Sam Blackman co-founded Elemental Technologies in 2006, creating software that performs encoding, decoding, and transcoding to enhance video streaming. ZoomInfo, a leader in modern go-to-market software, data, and intelligence for more than 25,000 companies worldwide, is headquartered in Vancouver.

Ankrom Mosian recently promoted 55 staff members across its three offices. In the Seattle office 19 staff received promotions. Britt Beushausen, Peter Neilsen, Melinda Poeppel, Ted Udhus and Chie Yokoyama have been promoted to senior associate in architecture. Rachel Osborne, Dani Richardson and Ashlee Washington are now senior associates in interior design. Stephanie Baker, Sierra Borsari-Peters, Ki Kim, Greg Salandi, Sara Schneider, Omar Torres-Rivera and Richard Wilson were promoted to associate in architecture and Allie Leaf, Renee Perez, Mariya Vierela and Christina Witteman to associate in interior design.

DCI announced the promotion of Amy Pugh and Wade Gelhausen to principal. Gelhausen is now the second Principal for DCI's Civil department and Pugh, who is the director of marketing, is the first woman in a non-technical role to become principal. Pugh, who is in the firm's Seattle headquarters, started at DCI 15 years ago as a marketing coordinator and has most recently led the firm's corporate marketing as director of marketing. Since then, she has spearheaded several award-winning marketing campaigns and elevated the DCI brand as they grew from a five-office firm to now 16 offices in eight states. Pugh guides a team of nine marketing and communications experts. Over the years, she has stepped into various operational roles within the firm, including launching DCI's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion group; developing the company-wide intranet; and most recently beginning the formal employee mentorship and development program.

Gelhausen, PE, works out of the firm's Spokane office and has been with DCI for more than 18 years where he currently oversees the Spokane-based civil team. His work includes the Ferris High School Modernization project – a multi-phased undertaking for both civil and structural teams. He also worked for his alma mater with the Gonzaga Hemmingson University Center. He is currently involved with business development efforts to pursue more public infrastructure projects.

Miller

Hewitt announced three promotions in its landscape architecture studio. Rachel Miller and Myles Harvey were both named associates. Mike Koski-Harja became a senior associate. Miller has been with Hewitt for six years, serving as a landscape architect on projects including the Southport Office Campus (Renton), University Village (Seattle), Facebook Arbor Blocks (Seattle) and Google Lakefront Blocks (Seattle). She previously worked at Integrated Site Design on projects ranging from large urban plazas to campus master plans to private gardens. Miller received her BLA and a Certificate in Restoration Ecology from the University of Washington.

During his seven years as a landscape architect at Hewitt, Harvey's work has ranged from mixed-used multi-family projects in Seattle to Redmond Technology Light Rail Stations, Heritage Square Park (Walla Walla, Wash.) and the Google Campus at Kirkland Urban. Prior to Hewitt, Harvey held posts at Harrison Design Landscape Architecture and Andrews Landscape Architecture. He received his BLA from the University of Washington.

While serving as a project manager with Hewitt for the past three years, Koski-Harja has worked on multiple public and private sector projects in the region such as the Google Campus at Kirkland Urban, 1400 Madison (Seattle), 800 Stewart (Seattle) and Richmond Centre (British Columbia). He most recently worked at Swift Company and held positions at other local firms during his 20-plus years of practice in the Seattle area. Koski-Harja received his MLA and Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba.

Integrus Architecture announced the advancement to associate principal of three design leaders in the firm: Kandis Larsen, Katie Vingelen and Matthew Bissen. Larsen is strongly influenced by her background in architecture and interior design enabling her to provide integrated and holistic solutions to the most complex design challenges. Her passion for design is grounded in her interactions with a diverse body of stakeholders.

Vingelen plays a key role in the firm's design leadership. Through her years of experience, she has learned the art of connecting with people and asking the right questions to better understand their needs and goals and then translate that vision into design solutions that strike a thoughtful balance between form, function, and experience.

Bissen is an architectural designer. His research and experience as a human geographer also provides a critical understanding of how people shape and appropriate space toward social empowerment and change. He is also a dedicated teacher and voice in the northwest design community as part-time faculty at the University of Washington, as well as currently serving as a member of the Seattle Downtown Design Review Board.

The Watershed Company

Spilsbury Pucci

The Watershed Company has hired Dawn Spilsbury Pucci as a GIS analyst/ecologist/drone pilot. Spilsbury Pucci is a forest and fish ecologist with 21 years of experience in the Pacific Northwest. She is also a FAA licensed UAS (drone) pilot and supporting The Watershed Company with UAS aerial imagery. Spilsbury Pucci also supports The Watershed Company teams with GIS services, nearshore ecological expertise, climate resiliency planning, habitat restoration planning and monitoring, and facilitation of public processes. She has a diverse set of skills and experiences including facilitation of citizen committees and technical work groups, management of restoration programs and scientific communications to policy and legislative decision makers. Spilsbury Pucci coordinates the Puget Sound Ecosystem Monitoring Program's Salmonid Work Group, which aims to support Federal, State, Tribal and other salmon ecology and recovery monitoring and research partners through-out the Sound.

Prior to joining The Watershed Company, Spilsbury Pucci worked in the public sector where she managed a salmon recovery grant program focusing on habitat protection and restoration. She was involved with the development of Island County's first sea level rise and flood risk assessment. She was a member of several Puget Sound and State advisory committees and work groups pertaining to salmon recovery, monitoring and nearshore climate adaptation. She has also worked for a tribal government as a forest and fish ecologist and was involved in the adaptive management program and cultural resources module development that supports the State Forest Practices program.

ZoomInfo

ZoomInfo, a global leader in modern go-to-market software, data, and intelligence, announced it has signed a lease to take residency of a 180,000-square-foot office space in Ra'anana, a northern suburb of Tel Aviv. Starting in spring 2023, ZoomInfo will occupy the top nine floors – and part of the rooftop – of a 30-story office building on the new Infinity Park campus near the Ra'anana-Kefar Sava border. The tower is expected to become the tallest in HaSharon region. Infinity Park will serve as a hub for Israel's software industry. Based in Vancouver, Wash., ZoomInfo has grown to more than 2,700 employees globally. Its Israel office has been located in the WOPA building in Ra'anana since 2016, where 250 of its more than 400 Israel-based employees are developers and engineers, with sales, marketing, and product management personnel filling out the team. ZoomInfo is currently hiring across a number of teams in its Ra'anana office.

Spaceflight

Astra Space and global launch services provider Spaceflight announced a multi-launch contract. This agreement provides Spaceflight with launch opportunities using Astra's launch services through 2025. Through this commitment, Spaceflight expands its launch vehicle partner portfolio, offering its customers additional launch opportunities through Astra missions. Astra gains a partner that offers a consistent stream of satellite customers seeking launches. Astra delivered its first commercial payload into Earth orbit in 2021, just five years after it was founded in 2016. Astra was the first space launch company to be publicly traded on Nasdaq. Based in Seattle, Spaceflight has successfully launched hundreds of satellites and is a part of the Mitsui & Co. portfolio, operating as an independent, U.S.-based company.

The Climate Pledge

Amazon and Global Optimism announced that more than 300 companies have now signed The Climate Pledge, a nearly 600% growth in signatories over the past year. Among the nearly 100 new signatories joining are the world's largest container shipping company, Maersk; enterprise software developer SAP; the North American timberland company Weyerhaeuser; and the largest residential solar company in the U.S., Sunrun. Pledge signatories in total generate over $3.5 trillion in global annual revenues and have more than 8 million employees across 51 industries in 29 countries. Signatories to The Climate Pledge must agree to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions on a regular basis; implement decarbonization strategies in line with the Paris Agreement through real business changes and innovations; and neutralize any remaining emissions with additional, quantifiable, real, permanent, and socially beneficial offsets to achieve net-zero annual carbon emissions by 2040. In 2019, Amazon and Global Optimism co-founded The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach the Paris Agreement 10 years early and be net-zero carbon by 2040.
