Precor, Pacific Fitness need space

Journal staff

BOTHELL -- Precor, a manufacturer of high-end cardiovascular and flexibility equipment, needs to find about 70,000 square feet of extra space at its Woodinville facility to house the Pacific Fitness equipment production lines.

Precor acquired the Cypress, Calif. -- based Pacific Fitness Corp., which makes strength training machines, in late 1998.

Precor spokewoman Jeanine Rossell said that how the company might provide the extra space is still uncertain. Any option, from adding to the existing building to making room within the current facility, may be employed.

Pacific Fitness's move to the Northwest is set for July of this year. Precor officials say the integration is designed to centralize development, sales, marketing, manufacturing and distribution of the equipment.

"With our commitment to be the standard of excellence in the fitness industry, the move to integrate Pacific Fitness with Precor manufacturing just makes good business sense," said Bill Potts, Precor president. "The centralization of the facilities will enable Precor to ensure the standard of excellence in all areas of total fitness: cardiovascular, flexibility and strength."
