Local experts say tech troubles will drag real estate market down

  • Surge in vacancy rate to 10% is predicted.

    Clete Casper put it out there yesterday. The local head of CarrAmerica Realty Corp. predicted area office vacancy rates will surge to 10 percent in the coming year.

    "If you add 100 percent more sublease, which we think is coming, I think we'll be at 10 percent vacancy pretty quickly," Casper said at a breakfast meeting of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

    "I think we'll be at 10 percent vacancy pretty quickly."
