Mall management veteran Jerry Alder moved from general manager of Tacoma Mall to the same position at Alderwood Mall. Alder succeeded Barry O'Connor, who was promoted to group vice president for the mall's owner, General Growth Properties, Inc. Alder managed Tacoma Mall since 1996 and supervised a major renovation. Now Alderwood Mall is in a nearly 500,000-square-foot expansion that will add nearly 70 retailers and restaurants by the 2004 holiday season. Alder, 47, also previously worked at Northgate Mall, Kits Cameras and Frederick & Nelson. He's a graduate of Central Washington University. O'Connor ran Alderwood since March 2001. As group vice president, he'll oversee Chicago-based General Growth Properties' seven Northwest malls and three community centers. He'll be based at Alderwood Mall.
