Former Gov. Dan Evans and wife Nancy Evans will receive this year's First Citizen Award from the Seattle-King County Association of Realtors. The award honors good citizenship and community involvement.

Past winners have included Herb Bridge, Phil Smart Sr., Jack Benaroya, Dr. Lester Sauvage and the Gates family.

Dan Evans served as governor for three terms, from 1965 to 1977. Then he was president of Evergreen State College before he was appointed in 1983 to the U.S. Senate seat that Henry Jackson had held. He is on the University of Washington's board of regents and on the board of trustees for Lakeside School and Children's Hospital.

Nancy Evans is on the board of trustees at Whitman College and the boards of the Seattle Symphony and the Benaroya Hall Music Center. The Evanses will receive the award at a banquet May 22 at the downtown Seattle Sheraton Hotel.
