Developers have until 5 p.m. Sept. 25 to apply for $4.6 million worth of federal tax deductions for projects in Tacoma's Renewal Community Zone. It includes most of downtown, the port area and part of the Eastside. Projects must be job creators and be new construction or substantially rehabilitated structures. Tacoma has received an annual allocation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development after it was named one of 28 national renewal communities in 2002. Applications can be obtained by e-mailing Shari Hart at shart@cityoftacoma.org or phoning (253) 591-5208.
