Major makeover for Fred Meyer store at 85th in Greenwood

  • A $77 million complex is planned, with a new Fred Meyer, up to 300 apartments and about 20,000 square feet of retail.

    If all goes as planned, the Greenwood Fred Meyer on Northwest 85th Street will soon be demolished and in its place will go a $77 million project with a new Fred Meyer, up to 300 apartments and about 20,000 square feet of retail space.

    Chris Libby, principal at GGLO, design architect for the project, said the idea of redeveloping the Fred Meyer store has started and stopped several times over the past few years, but it has been coming together in earnest for the past six months.
