Today Spectrum Development Solutions opens the first of three apartment projects it is building near Yesler Terrace.

Anthem on 12th is a six-story building at 103 12th Ave. with 120 units of “workforce” housing.

Seventy percent of the units are aimed at people making about 85 percent of area median income, but the units will not be income-restricted. About 30 percent of the units will be income-restricted, some for people making less than 65 percent of area median income and some for people making less than 85 percent.

Spectrum said in a press release that Anthem on 12th is 40 percent leased.

The grand opening event is today at 11 a.m. and Mayor Ed Murray is scheduled to speak.

Gracorp Capital Advisors and Bellwether Enterprise are Spectrum's financial partners on Anthem. Mithun is the architect, Walsh Construction Co. is the general contractor and Hewitt is landscape architect.

Spectrum's three projects will have 280 units. A quarter of the units will be affordable housing, some for people making less than 65 percent of area median income and some for those making less than 85 percent.

Construction began earlier this month on one of the other two buildings: Decibel, a 75-unit structure at 301 12th Ave. Reverb will have 85 units at 1023 E. Alder St., and is set to begin construction at the end of the month.

Mithun, Walsh and Hewitt worked on Decibel and Reverb, which are both slated to open spring 2016.
