Adolfson & Peterson Construction built The Luke, a 208-unit apartment complex at the intersection of 164th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 83rd Street in downtown Redmond.
Designed by BCRA, The Luke has one- and two-bedroom units around a central courtyard. Two levels of parking are below grade.
There also is a fitness center, pet grooming area, game lounge and a clubhouse in the courtyard.
“The interior of each unit is designed so daylight is visible from the entry all the way through to the main living space, creating an open and inviting environment,” said BCRA architect Joseph Rydman in a news release. “This concept is reinforced at the main entrance with floor-to-ceiling glazing throughout the main community spaces and an expansive exterior courtyard located in the center of the building footprint.”
Resmark Apartment Living, the owner, wouldn't say how many units have been leased. In an emailed statement Resmark said, “Leasing at the property continues to be very active.”
The Luke's website offers a free month's rent for new tenants. It says “open” one-bedroom apartments that are 520 to 608 square feet start at $1,685. The largest units — two-bedroom plus den in 1,270 square feet — start at $2,800.
Adolfson & Peterson Construction said it replaced traditional scaffolding with a lower-cost staging system during construction, and crews installed windows from the interior using an anchor-strap system.
One of the biggest challenges was the site's high water table, which required the team to install a deep-well dewatering system.
Major subcontractors were Emerald Air, Unity Electric, Best Plumbing, Smith Fire Systems, Conco, GK Knutson, Frontier Door & Cabinet and Santana Trucking & Excavating.
