Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Wendy Lawrence and Ken Larsen to the Washington State Housing Finance Commission. Lawrence is housing director for the Makah Tribe of the Olympic Peninsula. She worked on a 51-acre mixed-use, mixed-income development called Sail River Heights in Neah Bay. Larsen is mortgage banking director and senior vice president for Banner Bank in Bellingham. During the recession he implemented a program called the Great Northwest Home Rush, which matches potential homebuyers with housing contractors. WSHFC said it has created or preserved affordable housing for more than 307,000 people statewide.
