CBRE's new Vancouver, B.C., office — designed by Perkins+Will — has achieved WELL Building's gold level certification.
It's B.C.'s first such project in a new or existing interior space. CBRE's Loren Bergmann said in a statement, “We believe that the workplace environment should and can actively benefit the health and well-being of employees, not diminish it. We believe embracing workplace wellness is a key priority for our industry.” An interior staircase connects four floors, and there are living trees on each floor. The office uses lots of wood and other natural materials.
WELL focuses on human health and wellness in seven categories: air, water, light, nourishment, fitness, comfort and mind. WELL combines best practices in design and construction with medical and scientific research.
