Jon and Judy Runstad established Runstad Center for Real Estate Studies at the University of Washington in 2002. The UW created its own Department of Real Estate last year, within the College of Built Environments. Now the UW board of regents voted to rebrand the department as the Runstad Department of Real Estate. John Schaufelberger, dean of the College of Built Environments, said in a statement, “They have been leaders not only in the real estate and law communities but in the broader Seattle civic community.... They have helped to build, lead and sustain a premier real estate program.” Last year the department added Arthur Acolin, Gregg Colburn, Pike Oliver, Rebecca Walter and James Young to the faculty, which is led by professor Simon Stevenson.
