Hyatt Regency Seattle is opening with 103,000 square feet of meeting and event space. That includes two ballrooms with more than 19,000 square feet of space, and two smaller ballrooms.

The 45-story Hyatt Regency Seattle opened its doors on Monday at 808 Howell St. in the Denny Triangle.

The 1,260-room hotel is the largest in the Pacific Northwest.

R.C. Hedreen Co. was the developer, LMN Architects was the designer, and Sellen Construction was the general contractor.

The hotel is two blocks from the Washington State Convention Center and right by The Summit — the 1.4 million-square-foot convention center expansion slated to open in 2022.

Hyatt Regency Seattle is opening with 103,000 square feet of meeting and event space. That includes two ballrooms with more than 19,000 square feet of space, and two smaller ballrooms.

An upscale “executive” boardroom has a private balcony that can accommodate 24 people. There are also eight pre-function spaces ranging from 4,300 to 7,000 square feet, and 46 meeting rooms all outfitted with audiovisual equipment, blackout blinds, high-speed Internet, and multiple electrical, microphone and phone outlets.

The hotel's three eateries include Andare, a fast-casual Italian-style trattoria; a Daniel's Broiler steakhouse; and The Market, a 24-hour grab-and-go retail space with cafe seating.

Hotel guests can use a fitness center with Peloton bikes, cardio and strength equipment, a lounge with fire pits and a wraparound patio with views of the city.

Hotel rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, large bathrooms, 65-inch TVs, and black-and-white photos shot by Seattle-based photographers that highlight the natural beauty of the region.

The project team is seeking LEED gold certification in 2019. Sustainable features include an energy- and water-efficient laundry system, and a light-colored roof to reduce the urban heat-island effect. Bathroom toiletries are designed to minimize plastic waste.

Other firms involved with the project include: Zena Design Group, hotel room, tower lobby interior design; Berger Partnership, landscape architecture; Coughlin Porter Lundeen, civil engineering; Magnusson Klemencic Associates, structural engineering; and Arup, mechanical and electrical engineering.

Nearly 2,200 hotel rooms were slated to open in downtown Seattle in 2018, according to the Downtown Seattle Association. Another 6,414 new rooms are in the development pipeline.

Hedreen's other Seattle hotels include the 30-story Grand Hyatt Seattle, completed in 2001, and the 39-story Hyatt Olive 8, which opened in 2009.
