2 Seattle schools swap campuses

SEATTLE — The board of trustees for Billings Middle School announced an unusual swap on Tuesday: The school will trade campuses with Seattle Jewish Community School.

In the joint purchase-and-sale agreement, Billings will acquire SJCS's campus in Northgate and sell its Green Lake campus to SJCS.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The swap-sale affords both schools “right-sized spaces” and long-term financial sustainability, according to an announcement by Billings.

The new Billings Northgate campus includes a 30,000-square-foot school with a gym, science and design labs, arts wing with full stage and parking. The street address is 12351 Eighth Ave. N.E.

The Green Lake property acquired by SJCS is at 7217 Woodlawn Ave. N.E.

Billings serves nearly 100 students in grades six through eight.
