SEATTLE — The city Office of Economic Development announced on Thursday a new partnership to help small businesses and other commercial tenants renegotiate leases with their landlords.
Law firm Perkins Coie and nonprofit Communities Rise are partnering in the COVID-19 toolkit for qualifying enterprises that can't make their rent.
The effort follows Mayor Jenny Durkan's moratorium on evictions for residential, nonprofits and small business, which has now been extended until June 4. Enterprises with 50 employees or less are eligible.
The toolkit includes a free hourlong consultation with a lawyer on how to renegotiate a lease. Also included are sample legal documents and forms.
