The longtime owner of the Capitol Hill Goodwill property, at 115 Belmont Ave. E., has filed an early plan to redevelop with apartments. The seven-story, 171-unit proposal, by VIA Architecture, is a likely first step to selling the property. It's not publicly listed for sale.
The midblock parcel is just south of East Olive Way, and very close to the Broadway commercial strip and Capitol Hill Station. It totals 20,301 square feet. The old retail building, previously leased to Half Price Books, has almost 15,000 square feet. It dates to 1926. Goodwill began its lease in 2014; like all retailers, it's been affected by the pandemic.
