The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said yesterday that it has awarded $2.5 billion in grants to support local homeless assistance projects across the country, including $138 million to support projects in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
The $2.5 billion will support 6,500 projects nationwide. A total of $84.4 million of that went to 196 projects in Washington; $44 million to 122 projects in Oregon; $4.8 million to 27 projects in Idaho; and $4.7 million to 30 projects in Alaska, HUD said in a press release.
