Weber Thompson settles on 21 stories for U District tower, with oak intact

In this view, looking southeast (as if from the freeway), the gray towers on the skyline are other planned high rises made possible by the 2017 upzone.

May 10 will be the next design review for a student housing high rise planned at 700 N.E. 45th St. in the University District. Weber Thompson is the architect for Champion Real Estate, of Los Angeles, which will apparently ground lease the corner property from Japanese nonprofit the Nihon Ki-in. (A condominium agreement is also possible.) Related tenant Seattle Go Center will return to the new building, now dubbed Victory at the U.
