Former funeral home to become food bank

In a little noticed sale, Bonney-Watson's Southwest Mortuary building traded in May for nearly $2.7 million. Rainier Valley Food Bank bought the property at 9021 Rainier Ave. S. , and recently filed plans to renovate and expand the old building.

The midblock property is slightly south of South Henderson Street, and about a 10-minute walk west to Rainier Beach Station.
