SEATTLE — Last month, The Seattle Times reported the unexpected closure of the Elephant Car Wash in SoDo. It had long been a tenant at 2763 Fourth Ave. S. , where the local family-owned chain was founded in 1951.
Now the landowner, Leavitt Wolff Northwest Properties, has filed plans to raze the old structure. That includes one of the classic neon signs designed by Beatrice Haverfield; the more famous examples, from the now demolished Belltown location, were donated to Amazon and MOHAI.
