SHA's plan at Northgate Station has 1,400 market-rate, affordable units

The old low-rise complex will be redeveloped in phases; future tenants at Northgate Commons will have a short walk to the light rail station.

Just before the end of 2019, around Christmas, Seattle Housing Authority paid about $65 million for an old apartment complex north of Northgate Station, at and around 11060 Second Ave. N.E. In February of last year, SHA announced what it calls Northgate Commons — a long-term redevelopment plan for the old low-rise complex, now with about 211 units. There was then no schedule or discussion of what might replace the 1950s-era Northgate Apartments.
