ST transfers 10 Rainier Valley sites to city for housing

Ten of the 12 sites indicated have been transferred to the city. Sound Transit hasn’t yet determined the fate of the other two.

The city of Seattle announced last Monday the long-planned acquisition of 10 sites in the Rainier Valley, which Sound Transit had deemed surplus after construction of light rail line to SeaTac. The transfer has been brewing for well over a year, as part of Sound Transit’s broader push to create transit-oriented development opportunities for affordable housing.
