New names at Northgate Station's planned Central Park

Simon Property Group has renamed its old mall, now being massively rebuilt, as Northgate Station — to reflect the new light rail station there. Now that the station and Kraken Community Iceplex are open, the question is what comes next at 401 N.E. Northgate Way. Simon declined to comment on its phasing.

But there's a new set of names associated with the public lawn and amphitheater — already approved under GGLO's master plan — to go immediately south of the iceplex. That's long been called Central Park. National design firm 505 Design filed the latest plan for the roughly 1-acre expanse, which is also to include seating, paved areas, a retail kiosk, restroom, etc.
