386 Capitol Hill units planned atop new Safeway

By BRIAN MILLER
Real Estate Editor

Rendering by Weber Thompson [enlarge]
Looking west from 15th, the entry courtyard would align with Thomas, where it jogs around the block.

Rumors among store employees began circulating two years ago that the Safeway at 1410 E. John St. on Capitol Hill would be redeveloped. It later emerged that Greystar is the developer, and Weber Thompson the architect. Their five-story, 386-unit apartment plan also includes a new store. The first design review will be on Feb. 9, in a virtual presentation.
