158 Rainier Valley units planned — with companion project underway

State Street Lofts will be a next-door neighbor to Grand Street Commons.

Following a $9 million land deal to consolidate its ownership of the project, Lake Union Partners hopes to begin construction in August on what's now dubbed State Street Lofts. That eight-story, 158-unit apartment project at 1700 21st Ave. S. secured its land use permit about a year ago. The site is about a five-minute walk south from the future Judkins Park Station, where light rail service will begin in 2023 or later.
