Gasworks Brewing is looking to establish a new brewery and taproom on a Northlake site currently used as a parking lot.

Graham Baba Architects recently filed plans on behalf of Gasworks Brewing LLC to establish a new brewery and taproom on the shores of Lake Union at 2401 N. Northlake Way.

The new establishment would be built on space currently used as a parking lot on land owned by Puget Sound Yacht Club. Gasworks Brewing is leasing the parcel which is also currently used as a water-related passenger terminal and commercial marina.

The project site is 16,2948 square feet and is situated within a waterfront lot. It includes two existing structures and a dock, all of which are set to remain. The project is in early design but current plans call for a one-story eating and drinking establishment, and a food processing and craft work building (for brewing). Parking for 11 vehicles would be removed and 60 spaces would remain.

In a Building & Land Use Pre-Application the architect said that the current passenger terminal requires additional restaurant facilities. The proposal is to establish a 4,000-square-foot or less brewpub to meet this need. The new brewpub will be a free-standing structure. It will include a kitchen, brewery equipment, seating, a walk-in cooler, and ADA restrooms.

Gasworks Brewing is founded and owned by Cody Cluff who also owns Magnuson Cafe & Brewery, a modern American brewhouse restaurant in Sandpoint. In September a preview and fundraising event was held at the project site for the new establishment, at which Cluff shared more details about his vision for the space.

The Wallyhood Blog reports that the Lake Union brewery would be not unlike the one at Magnuson. There will be a kitchen and ordering area and a covered space for eating and drinking (that might not necessarily be a room).

Cluff also shared that he expects the project to be completed next fall. It appears that a general contractor is not yet attached to the project.
