Waterwheel to stop turning

SEATTLE — In a small property sale last year, the Waterwheel Lounge sold to local investors for $725,000. The midblock property had been listed in 2019, according to MyBallard.com, with the tavern then on a short-term lease. And now there's a redevelopment plan for 7034 15th Ave. N.W.

Acting for now as its own architect, Magedai LLC is proposing a five-story, 16-unit apartment building. It would also have ground-floor restaurant space totaling about 937 square feet.

The small site offers only 4,250 square feet, with no alley. Five parking stalls would evidently be structured. Tenants would have 16 bike stalls. The new plan will only require administrative design review.

The tiny tavern building dates to 1942. The tavern's history remains untold.
