100 Capitol Hill units planned

SEATTLE — It's been known since January that Guntower Capital LLC intends to buy the vacant old building at 1550 E. Olive Way. As a prelude to that deal, and new apartments to follow, the old brick pile was submitted for landmarking. In a meeting last month, the city's Landmarks Preservation Board declined to protect the corner structure, at East Denny Way, and demolition is now inevitable.

Last week, Runberg Architecture Group filed an early midrise plan for Guntower. It calls for 100 or more units and an unspecified amount of underground parking. With zoning up to 75 feet, a seven- or eight-story project seems likely.
