Ballard U-Haul plan still alive

SEATTLE — Plans emerged in late 2020 for U-Haul to redevelop its Ballard property at 1117 N.W. Leary Way. There's been some recent permit activity under MDG Architects and Atwell, of Portland, the civil engineer, surveyor and SEPA consultant.

SEPA review is required for the four-story storage and truck rental project, but not design review. The developer of record is Amerco Real Estate, the development arm for U-Haul, which has owned the midblock property for decades.
