MUP arrives for 226 Rainier Valley units

Looking northeast, retail and commercial bays will face both Rainier and Genesee.

There are two related apartment projects, north and south, for the long-vacant former Rainier Mall property. Both will fall under the new rubric of Rainier & Genesee. Moving faster, from Lake Union Partners, is the south project at 4238 Rainier Ave. S. And that five-story, 226-unit proposal secured its master use permit earlier this month. A 1.5-acre land sale appears to be the next step before construction can begin on the corner of South Genesee Street.
