Old Bellingham funeral home to give way to 80 apartment units

The corner site is convenient to the freeway.

About two years back, Jerns Funeral Chapel moved from its longtime Bellingham location. A local developer purchased its nearly 1.4-acre site last year for almost $1.9 million. That was after the City Council approved a rezone for change of use at 2948 James St., to allow new multifamily construction.
