Waterfront land returning to tribe

WASHINGTON — A bill to restore more than 17 acres of Tacoma waterfront land to the Puyallup Tribe is headed to President Joe Biden's desk after passing the U.S. House of Representatives last week and clearing the U.S. Senate in December.

The Puyallup Tribe of Indians Land into Trust Act places more than 17 acres that the Puyallup Tribe owns at Ruston Way along Commencement Bay into trust, restoring part of the tribe's ancestral homeland and increasing economic development opportunities there.
