YWCA plans redevelopment with 83 Belltown units

Demolition awaits for the century-old apartments.

Now with 59 low-income units, the YWCA's Lexington-Concord apartments are just over a century old. The three-story complex at 2402 Second Ave. has been “deemed structurally obsolete,” according to last week's city filings from SMR Architects. So the old bricks on the corner of Battery Street will be leveled, and a new building is planned.
