730 Bellwether units gain detail

SEATTLE — As the DJC reported in January, Bellwether Housing intends to redevelop its 60-year-old Kingway apartments in Hillman City. GGLO is planning the effort at 5900 37th Ave. S., at Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Bellwether announced some new details last week for the 6-acre project. It says that 730 units are planned, with a possible start to phased construction in 2026. Future units would run from studios to four-bedrooms. No design review is required for such entirely affordable housing projects.
