Starbucks claims vacant Ballard site

SEATTLE — California investors paid over $5 million in 2020 for what then was a viable 7-Eleven and Jack in the Box operation at 999 N.W. Leary Way. That Ballard corner, at 11th Avenue Northwest, then also had a gas station associated with the 7-Eleven.

Times have changed. There was a fire in 2023. Both businesses closed, and the area was fenced to keep out squatters. The old gas station canopy has been removed; the fate of the underground fuel tanks isn't clear.
