Affordable units to follow church demo

BELLEVUE — South of Interstate 90 in the Newport area, almost Factoria, Holy Cross Lutheran Church was established circa 1961 at 4315 129th Place S.E. It closed recently.

Plans emerged in 2023 for Habitat for Humanity to redevelop those 3-plus acres with housing. The notion was aided in part by recent changes to city code to encourage affordable housing on church properties. A few such examples have emerged on the Eastside, generally replacing parking.
