An exotic car dealership at 13617 N.E. 20th St., in the east end Bellevue, sold this week for $43 million, according to King County records. The seller was OpenRoad Auto Group, which acquired the property in 2018 for $25 million.
It's now home to high-end showrooms for Lamborghini, Bentley and McLaren.
The buyer was DJJ Chicago LLC, which is associated with Fields Auto Group of Illinois. Public records indicate a $38.2 million loan from Bank of America. Brokers, if any, were not announced.
Developed in 1988 and 2008, two attached buildings have about 68,000 square feet. Most of the 3.6 acres is used for inventory display. (You can look, but keep your greasy paws off the merchandise!)
The steep escalation in price reflects the substantial investment made by Canadian seller OpenRoad. It opened a fully renovated luxury showroom two years ago. Designed by Baylis and built by Foushee, that was a total makeover of the two old buildings. Those are in the Bel-Red area, a little south of state Route 520, near the Eastside offices for Microsoft, Facebook and Amazon.
When OpenRoad acquired the property, that deal marked its entry to the U.S. market. At the time, it was merely a BMW dealership. OpenRoad had announced the prior year that it would acquire the Bellevue Bentley-Lamborghini-Rolls-Royce dealership, then located elsewhere on the Eastside.
The recently renovated facility includes its own in-house cafe, of course. If you have to ask the price of a croissant and espresso, you probably shouldn’t be shopping there. An entry-level Lamborghini Huracan goes for only $320,000; optional ostrich-skin seats will add a little more.
