State still angling for dollars to replace fishing pier

Closed since 2016, the vacant old Elliott Bay Fishing Pier awaits removal.

Within Centennial Park, the old Elliott Bay Fishing Pier has been closed for nearly a decade now, having been deemed unsafe by its parents. Those are the Port of Seattle, which owns the park, and the state Department of Fish & Wildlife, which has responsibility for the tidelands below. Plans for a replacement pier surfaced last year, and recent permit filings with the city add a bit of fresh detail.
