Two U District MUPs add to assemblage

SEATTLE — In the U District, two different owners of some doomed old rental properties developed two separate new apartment plans. Both secured master use permits in recent years, and both coincidentally used Citizen Design as their architect.

The separate plans were near neighbors in a row of rentals extending from 5031-5045 11th Ave. N.E., east of Scarecrow Video. Then, last year, the north project went on the market, with Westlake Associates' Reid Jones and AJ Lachini being the brokers. They then asked $1.7 million, and the midblock property sold this spring for about $1.3 million.
