Amazon plans Costco-style big box near Chicago

The large store, with future satellite buildings, will occupy a very prominent corner.

The Village of Orland Park is a commuter suburb a little southwest of Chicago. And its planning commission recently disclosed a proposal for Amazon to lease a new big-box facility, with retail and warehouse components, on a dormant 35-acre site at 9600 W. 159th St. The village says that's now home to the recently shuttered Petey's II restaurant. Local blogs say the land is now owned by JD Real Estate.
