Two big land sales last month in Bellevue, both near East Main Station, have developers now rolling straight into demolition. New apartment buildings will both take two-plus years to finish. The office building demo, of course, goes much faster. The DJC pedaled over last weekend to survey the carnage.
First, at 200 112th Ave. N.E., that old Brutalist-style office building has been mostly razed by Dickson Demolition. On Sunday, most of that 1.5-acre site was rubble and rebar. The central elevator core section of the once three-story building was still standing, but that'll soon be gone.
Alliance Residential will act as its own builder for the coming 304-unit Broadstone 200, which was designed by Urbal Architecture. The project will rise a little west of the freeway
Second, a few steps up Main and overlooking the new station, the old John L. Scott office building is now mostly bare slab. In its place will rise the 350-unit Versant apartments, at 11040 Main St. Sierra is the builder, and also seems to have also done the demo. High Street Residential is the developer, working with architect Weber Thompson.
That midblock site offers about 1.7 acres. Just a few remnants of the old offices, built in 1979, were still standing on Sunday. The Scott offices are now a few bocks north at US Bank Plaza.
