Exxel Pacific recently finished demolition of the Harvey Family Funeral Home in Fremont.

Prometheus Real Estate is planning a seven-story, 196-unit apartment building for what had until recently been the Harvey Family Funeral Home property in Fremont. Those vacant buildings were demolished in recent weeks by Exxel Pacific, which will build the new project at 508 N. 36th St., dubbed Frank.

The site is now fenced, with some random equipment parked inside. Not all the old landscaping has been removed yet.

SeaLevel Properties is the local partner to Prometheus, which is based in the Bay Area. The architects are MG2 and Jones Architecture, of Portland.

Originally built in 1902, the building underwent a significant remodel in 1955.

Prometheus acquired the property four years ago for $20 million. The master use permit followed early last year. SeaLevel says a construction start should come at some point in the future. There's no sign yet of a construction loan.

Meanwhile, all the same parties are now at work on the 230-unit Yonder, now a few levels above grade in Fremont, on Stone Way.
