City selects Kassel to save the waterfront's forlorn Bakun Building

The Bakun this year ...

Back in April, the city put out a bid request for a contractor to renovate and repair its vacant, century-old Bakun Building. Sitting at the foot of the Pike Street Hillclimb, at 1426 Alaskan Way, that hardy little survivor is the last but perhaps most unheralded piece of the $4 billion-plus waterfront makeover.
