Andrew Bergh: Third grader gets paddling, not $30K

Corporal punishment is alive and well in Louisiana.

But its use was recently tested in Setliff v. Rapides Parish School Board. In that case, a Louisiana appeals court had to decide whether school officials should pay $30,000 in damages to a third grader who received a paddling at school.
