There are signs of thawing in the cold war between Sea-Tac Airport and Burien. Strange as it seems, industrial developers might be the beneficiaries.
Burien incorporated only about a decade ago, and once fancied itself a tech town. In a signal Burien has come to terms with itself, the City Council last month rezoned 162 acres in the northeast part of the city to airport-compatible uses. The city still will take the tech, but it has widened its net considerably. Now if an air-cargo facility or car dealership shows up, Burien won't turn up its nose.
