Opus South Corp., a design-build development firm that focuses primarily on Alabama and Florida, and some of its subsidiaries recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, prompted by continued deterioration in commercial and residential real estate in the Southeast.
Opus is leaving the Southeast market, but may return when it's more conducive to commercial real estate, said Winston Hewett, corporate communications director.
