One year ago, with the pandemic more of a distant rumor than an imminent threat, the Downtown Seattle Association was mostly concerned with crime. That was back when downtown streets were packed with office workers, shoppers, tourists — and, yes, the occasional gun-wielding criminal.
When we convened in-person at the Hyatt Regency last February, with the coronavirus lockdown a month away, memories were still seared by the fatal January shooting outside the former Macy's building — then full of Amazon workers. Now they're all working from home.
