Father's Day, my parents' wedding anniversary and the anniversary of my dad's death are all crammed into the same three-week period. I usually find myself grouping the trio of events together and reflecting on them as a package on each one of those days. Yet, this year, they seemed to be front and center more often.
I recently returned from a brief visit with my mom, 88, who was undergoing some tests to determine the cause of minor strokes. She was anxious and nervous about the exams and I attempted to brighten her outlook by bringing up the fact that summer was “right around the corner” and that I was eager to repair the dock at the lake cabin we share with another family.
